2tablespoonsall-purpose flour
Salt and black pepperto taste
Fresh herbssuch as thyme or rosemary, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
Once the onions are caramelized, add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook until they are soft and golden brown, about 5-10 minutes.
Sprinkle sugar over the onions and mushrooms, stirring to combine. This will help deepen the caramelization and add a hint of sweetness to the gravy.
Stir in the soy sauce, allowing it to coat the onions and mushrooms evenly.
In a small bowl, whisk together the oat milk and flour until smooth. Pour the mixture into the skillet, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
Season the gravy with salt and black pepper to taste. If desired, garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
