- 1 can 15 oz garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained and rinsed
- 1 flax egg OPTIONAL 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds + 2.5 tablespoon water
- ½ red onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ cup chickpea flour or all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- ½ teaspoon curry powder optional
- 2 tablespoon fresh parsley or cilantro finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1-2 tablespoon olive oil for frying
- 3 tablespoon Bread crumbs for coating
Prepare the Chickpea Mixture
Combine garbanzo beans, red onion, garlic, and spices in a food processor. Pulse until roughly mashed but not smooth.
Mix Ingredients
Transfer to a large bowl. Add flax egg, chickpea flour, parsley, and lemon juice. Mix thoroughly. Adjust seasonings as needed.
Form Patties
Use a potato masher or hands to form patties from the mixture. Place on parchment paper for easy handling. Coat with bread crumbs.
Cook the Patties
Heat a frying pan or large skillet with olive oil over medium heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown.
