Bachan's Tofu Rice Bowl

This protein-packed tofu rice bowl features crispy pan-fried tofu cubes tossed in Bachan's Japanese Barbecue Sauce for a crave-worthy flavor explosion. Tofu is an excellent source of plant-based protein, providing all nine essential amino acids your body needs.

Ingredients
  

  • Tofu: 14 oz 1 package, extra-firm
  • Cornstarch: ¼ cup plus 2 teaspoons for thickening
  • Vegetable oil: ⅓ cup for frying
  • Onion: 1 medium thinly sliced
  • Broccoli: 2 cups cut into florets
  • Bachan's Japanese Barbecue Sauce: ¼ cup for drizzling
  • Cooked rice: 2 cups for serving
  • Green onions: 2 sliced, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds: 1 tablespoon optional, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Press tofu between paper towels or clean kitchen towels to remove excess water. Cut into 1-inch cubes.
  • Dredge tofu cubes in cornstarch seasoned with salt and pepper.
  • Heat neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Pan fry tofu until golden brown and crispy on all sides. Remove and set aside on a wire rack.
  • In the same skillet, stir fry onions and broccoli until tender-crisp.
  • Toss crispy tofu back into the pan with vegetables. Drizzle with Bachan's Japanese Barbecue Sauce and toss to coat.
  • Serve over hot rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
